On 18 July 2023, we celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day. This is a day to honor the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, a man who dedicated his life to fighting for freedom, equality, and peace.

Mandela was born in South Africa in 1918. He became a lawyer and anti-apartheid activist, and was imprisoned for 27 years for his beliefs. After his release from prison, Mandela became South Africa’s first black president. He served as president from 1994 to 1999, and during his time in office, he worked to heal the divisions of apartheid and build a more just and equitable society.

Nelson Mandela International Day is a day to reflect on Mandela’s legacy and to commit ourselves to continuing his work. It is also a day to take action to make a difference in our own communities.

Here are some ways you can honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela:

  • Learn more about Mandela’s life and legacy.
  • Volunteer your time to a social upliftment organization.
  • Donate to a charity that supports Mandela’s causes.
